Sammy Struttmann
MTSS/504 Coordinator
Ms. Sammy is the MTSS/504 Coordinator for our middle campus, and she’s been working in middle-level education for over a decade. This year marks her 13th year in education and her 12th at ANCS — it’s safe to say she’s right where she belongs!
Before taking on her current role, Ms. Sammy wore many hats at ANCS. She’s taught 6th and 7th grade Humanities, Individuals & Societies, and Language & Literature. She even spent a year at our Elementary campus teaching first grade. Outside of ANCS, she helped launch the Kindezi School at Old Fourth Ward, teaching fourth grade and expanding her impact on Atlanta’s students. Most recently, she brought her creativity and film background into the classroom as the 7th/8th grade Design Teacher — blending innovation and learning in ways only she can.
Ms. Sammy holds a B.S.E. in Middle Level Education with concentrations in Social Science and Language Arts from Georgia State University. She’s also been an active part of the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta, the Metro Atlanta YMCA, and has cheered on young athletes as a volleyball and softball coach.
When she’s not supporting students and teachers, you’ll probably find Ms. Sammy soaking up Atlanta’s vibrant culture. She loves hitting up local festivals and live shows with family and friends, exploring thrift shops for vintage treasures, and getting lost in local art. Her dog Moneypenny is her constant adventure buddy. They love discovering new dog parks (bonus points if there’s a coffee shop attached).
Ms. Sammy’s also a thrill-seeker at heart. She’s conquered the front row of the tallest roller coaster in the U.S. and even jumped off the Stratosphere Hotel in Las Vegas! She’s always up for a challenge, especially when it comes to finding creative ways to help every student thrive, no matter who they are or where they’re starting from.
