EC Principal Letter

Dear ANCS Elementary Families,

We had such a wonderful time at Grandparents and Special Friends Day last Friday. It really is such an incredible day here at school. The students are so proud to show off their classrooms and work to their grandparents and/or special friends and I just love the smiles and warmth that everyone shares. We had visitors from near and far, including Africa and Europe! I want to say a big thank you to Paige Teusink for all her hard work and dedication to making this day run so smoothly. We really could not have done this without her amazing organizational skills! Thanks to all the volunteers who came to help with all that had to be done, as well. We appreciate all of you so much! Additionally, many thanks to Annette Wawerna along with Susan Taylor and the chorus parent volunteers for all the work they put into getting the chorus members ready to sing two beautiful songs to our guests.

Our next big school family event is Fall Fest on November 8th from 12:00 to 3:00 at the elementary campus. Put this on your calendar. You won’t want to miss all the fun.

Now that the mornings are cooler and students are wearing jackets and sweaters to school more often, it is super helpful to make sure that your child’s belongings (jackets, scarves, hats, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc.) are labeled with his/her/their full name. Things often get left around the school and are taken to the lost and found whenever possible. However, it is always best when we can just return an item to its owner, which is what will happen if it is labeled. The lost and found is getting rather full. Please encourage your child to look for lost items and if you have time, feel free to stop by the cafeteria to look through the rack yourself.

As I am sure you are all aware, Halloween is this Friday. Our children are becoming more and more excited about the big day. This is a very fun time of year, and at the same time, we ask that children not wear their costumes to school this Friday (or any day) or bring candy to school from their trick-or-treating loot. We will not have class parties on Halloween, but teachers may do some fun activities with the class. We are hopeful this will help us keep an atmosphere of calm and learning here at school and respect the members of our school family that do not celebrate Halloween. Thank you in advance for helping us with these efforts.

As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

Wishing you well,

Lara
