7th & 8th Grade Overnight Trips

In the past year, we successfully reintroduced our overnight trips for 7th and 8th graders (with 6th graders enjoying a day trip in the Spring), and we’re thrilled to announce that these exciting adventures will continue this year.

Our 7th grade students will journey to Jekyll Island from Wednesday, February 28th, to Friday, March 1st. During this trip, they will have the opportunity to explore coastal habitats while collaborating with the 4-H club.

Our 8th grade students will venture to Savannah from Tuesday, May 14th, through Friday, May 17th, 2024. Last year’s itinerary for this trip included visits to historically significant sites such as Fort Pulaski, a Civil War-era fort, the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum, the Jepson Center for the Arts, and an enriching experience learning about the preservation of West African culture through Gullah Geechee heritage.

Maria McFeeley, our registrar, has been instrumental in organizing these memorable overnight trips. She will be leading information sessions in the coming weeks to provide more details and answer any questions you may have.

The information session for 7th graders interested in the Jekyll Island trip is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th, at 6:30 pm in the Media Center. Similarly, the information session for 8th graders interested in the Savannah trip will be held on Wednesday, October 4th, at 6:30 pm in the Media Center. Both sessions are expected to last less than an hour.

We look forward to sharing further details about these enriching experiences and hope to see you at the information sessions.
