Meet Our Fund Development Coordinator

In my role as the ANCS Fund Development Coordinator, I lead the initiatives and campaigns that support the Gather & Grow Annual Fund. This work has brought me full circle—back to serving in the Atlanta eastside neighborhoods where I’ve lived and worked for nearly 20 years. Much of my career has centered on community-building and engagement roles, championing the unique voices and public assets that make our city thrive.

From an early age, I developed a deep awareness of the importance of community, inclusion, and support systems. As the youngest child of deaf parents, I often served as a bridge between my family and the hearing world. Long before email, closed-captioning, or the full implementation of ADA protections, my sister and I served as interpreters at restaurant counters, family gatherings, and on household phone calls. In turn, we relied on our broader community to help us connect in and navigate through the hearing world my parents couldn’t access. We were lucky to have extended family living nearby—and even luckier to have a neighbor who learned ASL just to communicate with my parents. Community wasn’t just a concept in our household — it was a necessity and a source of strength.

That foundational experience continues to inform my approach to work and service. At ANCS, I’m privileged to witness that same spirit of compassion and inclusion in action every day. It’s in the dedication of our faculty, who cultivate not just diversity awareness but demonstrate true inclusion in their classrooms. It’s in the volunteers who generously give their time to plan & create welcoming events for all. And it’s in the quiet acts of generosity—the parents who increase their donation with a note that reads: “In support of our children and their classmates.”

I’m recharged and inspired daily by the deep commitment of this community to uplift every student and support families with thoughtful programming. It’s a reminder that the village still matters—and that when we come together, we create an environment for everyone to thrive.

As we move through the school year, I look forward to working with you all to further strengthen our community!

With gratitude,

Bex Godsey
