Cassie Leymarie

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Co-Director

Cassie earned a BA in Spanish and and a BA in Communication Arts & Sciences (with a focus on intercultural communication) as well as a Master of Arts in TESOL from The Pennsylvania State University. She earned a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Georgia State University. She also holds a Diversity & Inclusion certification from Cornell University. She joined the ANCS faculty in October of 2022 and has worked in a school setting for 15 years.

Most recently Cassie served as Director of Education & Impact at the Global Village Project, a special purpose middle school for refugee girls. Prior to that she taught a variety of courses at Georgia State University and Emory University. She also taught Social Justice at SMASH Academy Morehouse. For a number of years while completing requirements for her PhD, she worked in various special international programs at GSU as well as in the nonprofit sector, specifically, supporting program creation and development in refugee serving agencies focused on community education and social adjustment.

Cassie is deeply committed to educational equity and believes all students deserve a chance to thrive and that we must acknowledge and eliminate systemic barriers in order to create inclusive and accessible learning environments. She is honored and privileged to be doing such important work at ANCS, a community that is mission-driven and that takes great care in cultivating the future of our children.

Cassie considers herself a lifelong learner and loves trying new things. She enjoys traveling, exercising and outdoor activities, listening to music, going to concerts, and spending time with her partner.
