Zoë Spencer

School Farmer

Zoë Spencer (Farmer Z) grew up in Atlanta and got her start in urban farming at Maynard Jackson High School, creating a rooftop garden. She has a background in farm to cafeteria work and holds a B.A. in French with a minor in Horticulture from the University of Georgia. This is her first year working at a K-8 school.

Prior to working at ANCS, Farmer Z has worked in a variety of growing spaces. Some of these include a small organic garden in the South of France, the University of Georgia’s organic fruit and vegetable farm, a specialty clematis nursery, and the UGA horticulture research farm. She moved back to Atlanta in 2021 and has since worked at Trees Atlanta as a Youth Tree Team coordinator, as a seasonal fruit vendor at the local farmers market circuit, and in the food service industry. She is so excited to be able to nourish her community in this role at the school farm.

Zoë’s interests span across music, languages, and all things related to food—whether it’s growing, foraging, cooking, eating, or sharing with loved ones. She cherishes quality time with her cat and finds delight in exploring Atlanta’s abundant farmers’ markets and picturesque parks.
