Jessie Turton
1st Grade Teacher
Jessie Turton is an experienced educator, with vast experience across industries. In her current role, Ms. Turton works tirelessly to create a dynamic, fun, and educational learning environment. She loves to introduce new art projects to help students synthesize concepts that are introduced during classroom learning time. Ms. Turton works with a variety of specialists across the school to ensure that information is delivered in a way that is personally impactful to her students. Her diverse experience (in the environmental, nursing, and educational sectors) has taught her that the best ideas can come from anywhere and anyone. She loves to share and collaborate with her students, peers, and coworkers.
Ms. Turton is a native of Sarasota, Florida and was educated at Emory University, with an emphasis in Environmental Studies and Women’s Studies. She worked as a consultant for 14 years, prior to pursuing a degree at Emory University’s Nell Hodgson School of Nursing. While this course of study was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, her time at CHOA’s Hughes Spalding Hospital helped her find her calling as a teacher.
Ms. Turton is an artist at heart, and is a resident artist at Arts Beacon in Grant Park. She creates abstract and realistic sculptures to communicate ideas about place, identity, and voice.
