Kathryn Yates

School Farmer

Kathryn Yates joined ANCS in October 2024 as the School Farmer, working with students at both the Elementary and Middle Campuses. She is passionate about connecting students to the natural world through hands-on learning and helping them develop an appreciation for agriculture, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.

Ms. Yates earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, and a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Georgia State University. Before joining ANCS, she began her career in school-based agriculture as the Farm to School Coordinator at GPCP in 2024.

Prior to working in schools, Ms. Yates owned and operated a six-acre farm in Blairsville, Georgia, where she grew a diverse selection of vegetables, medicinal herbs, and cut flowers from 2018 to 2023. During that time, she also partnered with a local wedding florist, supplying flowers and creating floral arrangements and installations for weddings throughout the North Georgia mountains. Earlier in her career, she worked as a barista at Octane Coffee and The General Muir and has also served as a birth doula and office manager.

Outside of school, Ms. Yates enjoys arranging flowers, hiking with her dog, Sadie, listening to music, reading, decorating her home, and traveling. She loves sharing her passion for growing, creating, and exploring with the ANCS community.
