EC Assistant Principal Letter
Dear ANCS Elementary Families,
The building is buzzing about Grandparents and Special Friends Day this Friday, October 27th from 9:00-11:30 am. This is certainly one of my favorite ANCS events as it is another opportunity for me to think about the very special relationship that I had with my grandfather, which still has a positive impact on me today. The students cannot wait to showcase their learning experiences and share all about what makes ANCS so unique. As a reminder, we work hard to ensure that each student has a guest. Please make sure that you have RSVP’d for your guest here. If you don’t have someone who can come to school for your child, please let your classroom teachers know as soon as possible so we can work to find someone here at school to participate. Additionally, we have traditionally had many students leave with their grandparent or special guest after the day’s festivities are over. If you want your child to leave early, you need to let the classroom teachers know ahead of time. We will not allow a child to leave unless you have given your permission for that to happen. The classroom teachers will have a sign-out sheet in their rooms so please be sure to remind all grandparents and special guests attending the event to sign students out if they are planning to take them home early.
As you know, October is Digital Citizenship month and Ms. Rogers and her team are bringing the Golden “Ipads” back! Woot! This might be the most exciting part of Digital Citizenship month for our students. Golden “iPads” are hidden around the school and once found, students must answer the question attached to the “iPad” and will then have an opportunity to share the answer in Morning Meeting. The questions are related to Digital Citizenship videos that the teachers can show in class. The students are doing their part to be good digital citizens so don’t forget to do your part! As a reminder, please mark your calendars and join Ms. Rogers, Ms. Shelley, and Ms. Tottenham for our next Parent University entitled, Digital Life and Learning: Digital Citizenship in 2023, on October 30th right after Morning Meeting, 8:15-9:15 am. We are planning an informative, interactive event where we will be talking about all things digital citizenship including: Wellness, Safety, Using Tech for Good, School Resources, and more. Your partnership in ensuring that students are safe online is imperative. We hope to see you there.
Lastly, I am happy to report that Ms. Zelski had a successful surgery and is working on her recovery. We miss her dearly, but we are so happy that she is taking care of herself.
Take care,
Nicole
