EC Principal Letter
Dear ANCS Elementary Families,
Construction on the security vestibule started over the Thanksgiving break and while it doesn’t look like much has happened from the outside, there have been many changes on the inside. Right now it is all hidden behind a large piece of black plastic. I am super proud of all of our students who came to school on Monday ready to learn and didn’t let this distract them.
Earlier today we enjoyed a visit from APS Superintendent, Dr. Bryan Johnson. He spent a brief amount of time touring our school, seeing all the great things our students are up to and meeting some of our teachers.
We are all super excited about our second annual Winter Wonderland that is happening next Wednesday, December 11th. The gate will open at 6:00PM and the show will begin promptly at 6:30. Everyone will enter through the back gate to the lower field that is on Oakland Ave. Students will sit with their class throughout the entire program. Please bring a chair or a blanket to sit on. The field may be wet, but there is currently no rain in the forecast, so hopefully there will be no need to move to the 12th.
We want everyone to watch each grade level, so grab your popcorn on the way in, settle in and prepare to be dazzled! We have been working with our students on not only how to be great performers, but also how to be a great audience. Since the show is outside, it can be tempting to talk, but we really want to be sure that everyone has the opportunity to hear each grade level sing without interference. We will do our part with the student section, as we ask that you please help us by doing the same during the performances, too!
Please also note that the playground and the farm are closed during the Winter Wonderland event. ANCS Students will be either with their teachers during the event or with their family after the program. We ask that all other children stay with parents/guardians. There is no running around the field, as it will be crowded & dark and we want to be respectful to each grade level singing and keep all students (and family members) safe. Thank you for helping us with these boundaries.
As is tradition, we will have an early dismissal on December 20th. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 and there will be no after school on this day. Please make plans to have your child picked up from school on the 20th at 11:30. Please communicate with your child’s teachers if there are any changes to your regular dismissal routine. We need to know each student’s dismissal plan prior to the 20th.
As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Have a wonderful remainder of your week.
Wishing you well,
Lara
