EC Principal Letter
Dear ANCS Elementary Families,
I hope you are having a wonderful week so far. We are all excited about our Black History celebration tomorrow. We will have a morning show for just our students and faculty and then we will have an evening show that will begin at 6:00 PM in our auditorium for our families. I hope you can join us, as it will be a very special event. Our students and teachers have worked really hard to make it a great evening.
By this time you should have signed up for your spring parent-teacher conference. We hope that you find your conference time informative and productive. We recognize that 30 minutes isn’t always enough time to discuss everything, but we believe that having time to talk over the conference guide and set goals together is an important part of developing a partnership that supports student growth and learning. Thank you for taking the time to meet with your child’s teachers and remember that if you ever have questions or concerns, you are free to contact them anytime. If you have not set a date for your conference, please take care of that as soon as you are able.
This weekend we are all looking forward to the Wonderball on Saturday evening. I hope to see you all there! Then, on Sunday, Daylight Saving Time begins – so we all get to spring forward one hour. With one extra hour of daylight each evening, it can be tempting to let go of some of the daily routines you have set in your house. We know that adjusting to Daylight Saving Time can be challenging, but we encourage you to continue or even tighten up on bedtime and morning routines. With only 11 weeks of school left of this school year, we want to make every minute of it count. Having students come to school well rested and ready for each day of learning is a huge support and benefits us all.

Lara Zelski
Lara Zelski began working at ANCS in 2007. Previously, she worked at the Howard School and taught art, Spanish, reading and math. She taught 6th, 4th, and 2nd in DeKalb County. She taught 4th and 5th grade in Decatur and then moved to Title One reading and math instruction for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. She taught 5th grade at the ANCS elementary campus for two years.
