EC Principal Letter
Dear ANCS Elementary Families,
I hope you are enjoying your week so far. We celebrated Women’s History this morning by having an amazing program that included a fashion show, trivia and a fun slideshow featuring women of ANCS! The students and staff loved it! We have also all been enjoying Teacher Appreciation Week and are thankful for the folks who organized all the love!
As you know, we will all be enjoying spring break next week. Please help your child stay focused on school by getting them to bed on time and ensuring they are here on time each day. All of that really does make a big difference in attitude and performance. Once we return from spring break, we will have an action-packed, very busy 6 weeks of school left, so please make sure you continue to read communication from the school. This time is going to fly by! Here are just some of the scheduled events.
- April 18th – Bingo Night at the MC
- April 21st – The library is hosting the spring book fair (runs through the 25th)!
- April 23rd – Family Reading Night from 5:30-7:30
- April 25th – Book Character Parade from 1:40-2:25. Everyone is invited to come cheer on our students as we celebrate reading together. More details coming soon.
- April 26th – Wolf Pup (Kindergarten) Round Up for incoming kindergarteners.
- April 28th – May 14th – Milestones testing window for 3rd, 4th & 5th graders.
- May 3rd – Run With The Wolves 5K at the middle campus.
- May 16th – K-5 Field Day! Please consider volunteering!
Also, beginning May 15th, classes will begin celebrating their learning with portfolio shares. You will receive more information from your child’s teachers as those dates get closer. In the meantime, here are the dates and times for each grade level so you can go ahead and get these on your calendar.
- Kindergarten – May 15th, 12:30-1:45
- First Grade – May 20th, 8:30-10:30
- Second Grade – May 19th, 8:30-10:30
- Third Grade – May 21st, 8:30-11:30 (split into three one hour groups)
- Fourth Grade – May 15th, 11:00-12:00
- Fifth Grade – May 19th, 11:30-12:30
So, you can see that our spring will be busy! Please help us by ensuring your child continues to come to school on time each day and well rested. We appreciate your partnership! Additionally, a quick reminder that all phones and smart watches are turned off and put into backpacks when students enter school. If you need to get in touch with your child, please contact the front desk or email your child’s teachers.

Lara Zelski
Lara Zelski began working at ANCS in 2007. Previously, she worked at the Howard School and taught art, Spanish, reading and math. She taught 6th, 4th, and 2nd in DeKalb County. She taught 4th and 5th grade in Decatur and then moved to Title One reading and math instruction for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. She taught 5th grade at the ANCS elementary campus for two years.
