Letter from EC Principal

Dear ANCS Elementary Families,

I hope you are all doing well on this asynchronous day of learning.

Please remember to continue to drop your child off for school each day at the same location we have been using all year. Please do not pull all the way to the front of the building. When some cars do this, it blocks the flow of traffic and causes congestion. It also blocks the two crosswalks, which is a safety concern. Additionally, please help your child to be ready to get out of the car when Ms. King or I open the door. This means having the backpack easily accessible, shoes on, water bottle in hand, etc. Thank you for your help with making drop off run smoothly each day!

A word from Nurse Hicks about medication at school. Though the mornings continue to be chilly, spring will technically be here on Thursday. Nurse Hicks has requested that students who have asthma be sure to have their inhaler here at school. She also recommends that these students use their inhaler before recess or PE to abate possible symptoms and risk of a serious asthma attack, especially if it is a code yellow or red day. We announce the air quality each morning during our morning meeting. For students with seasonal allergies and who are in need of over-the-counter medication, she asks that you have filled out a Medicine Administration Form, which can be found on our website or you can get this directly from Nurse Hicks. You will need to provide Nurse Hicks with this form and the medication in its original container, not in a baggie, so your child can receive it if needed during the school day. This should not be a daily practice, just in case of an emergency. Please do not send any medication (over-the-counter or prescription) to school in your child’s backpack in anticipation of him/her taking it without assistance from Nurse Hicks. It is very important that all medication be stored in the nurse’s office at school and administered with adult supervision.

Finally, our spring musical Music Man, Jr. will be taking place this weekend! Performances will be Friday, March 21st at 7pm; Saturday, March 22nd at 2pm AND 7 pm; and Sunday, March 23 at 2 pm. Students and our drama department, led by Performing Arts teacher Jacob Dewey, have put a lot of work into this production. Each year these productions are amazing and I’m looking forward to another great show. There are students from 2nd grade to 8th represented in the show this year. All of the shows are at the Elementary Campus and tickets cost $10. You can purchase tickets using this link. Best of luck to the cast and crew and we hope to see you at the shows this weekend!

As always, I am happy to answer any questions you may have. I hope you have a wonderful remainder of your week.

Wishing you well,

Lara
