From the IB Coordinator

My name is Dale Scott, and I serve as the IB Coordinator at the Middle Campus. My other roles include: teacher of 8th grade Power30 and Advisory, Service Learning Coordinator, and coach to the phenomenal young runners on the Cross Country team (go Wolves!). This is my 11th year at ANCS, and in past lives here I taught Math, Science, and Design. In the course of my educational journey, I attended Waldorf School (K-8), Catholic School (9-12), earned a Bachelor’s Degree from a private college (Middlebury College), and a Master’s Degree from a public university (Relay Graduate School of Education). In each type of school, I picked up skills and values that contributed to my current role.

As IB Coordinator, I like to tell the kids that my job is to help our school be the very best International Baccalaureate school we can be, and that looks different every year and every day! Many days, I work with teachers on curriculum and professional development, and support implementation of IB rubrics for kids to develop crucial skills. I work with kids at Morning Meeting to help them understand and grow in the Attributes of the Learner Profile. And it is always my goal to partner with you, our amazing families, to be knowledgeable in how to support our young people from home.

When I first walked through the doors of ANCS, I knew very little about the community or the job. Now, I can say with certainty that over the past 10 years, I have grown as both an educator and as a citizen, human, parent and friend because of the work I do here. In my current role, I have the privilege of watching children grow from sixth grade Wolf Prep all the way through eighth grade. You could say that the job may have brought me here, but the people keep me here. This is my school family.

And for those who are still reading, I’ll wrap it up with some fun facts about the person behind the educator: I am a mom to a 3- and 6-year old; I spend time each summer north of Seattle on the farm where my parents live (when I was in middle school, I milked the cows every morning on my way to school!); I am a Spanish speaker and lived in Argentina for six months; and I love nature, exercise, and spending time with family and friends.
