International Service Learning News and Important Dates

We returned in June from a magical and moving trip to the Peruvian Andes where students engaged in service with a Quechuan community of weavers dedicated to erecting a building where they could not only sell their wares, but host guests and conduct classes for travelers interested in learning about their culture and their trade.

Next, our trip is to The Dominican Republic during Spring Break of 2025 (this academic year!!) with interested 8th grade students who will engage in several efforts aimed at honing their environmental leadership skills and putting them to work in reforesting the island. This trip has several travelers already signed up, but space for more remains. If you’re the parent/guardian of a current 8th grader and are interested in learning more about this amazing opportunity, please come to our:

    • FARM NIGHT DINNER & CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL SERVICE LEARNING on Sept 26. You may RSVP HERE.
    • If you cannot make that gathering, or afterwards are in need more information, we’ll host a Zoom meeting on Oct 1st  (emails forthcoming).

We are also planning ahead and are excited to announce that the Spring Break 2026 International Service Learning Trip will be to Ecuador!!! Students will head up into the Andes and spend their time in a sustainable community, learning about how to live close to the earth with minimal impact. They’ll also enjoy several cultural experiences and even some white-water rafting.

  • Current Seventh Grade Families are invited to attend an Interest and Learning Meeting about Ecuador 2026 on Sept 10 at 6 pm in the Middle Campus Media Center. RSVP HERE.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Heidi Goodwin at hgoodwin@atlncs.org.
