ANCS Named Math Leader School by Georgia Department of Education
The Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School (ANCS) is thrilled to announce its recognition as a Math Leader School by the Georgia Department of Education for the 2023-24 school year. This distinction highlights the exceptional academic growth and achievement demonstrated by our students in mathematics, reflecting the hard work of our learners and the dedication of our educators.
Awards Received by ANCS:
- Elementary Campus: 5th Grade Gateway Growth
- Middle Campus: 7th Grade Growth, 8th Grade Gateway Growth, and High School (Algebra) Growth
These awards were earned through outstanding performance on the 2023-24 Georgia Milestones assessments. The Georgia Department of Education’s rigorous criteria ensured that schools meeting the standards demonstrated substantial improvement or consistently high achievement in mathematics.
Gateway Growth Criteria
Growth awards were granted for significant increases in the percentage of students scoring Proficient or Above compared to the previous year, with schools needing to meet the following growth thresholds:
- Fewer than 50% Proficient in 2022-23: A 15-point or higher increase
- 50-69% Proficient in 2022-23: A 10-point or higher increase
- 70-89% Proficient in 2022-23: A 5-point or higher increase
- 90-97% Proficient in 2022-23: A 3-point or higher increase
Additional growth awards were also given for outstanding progress in other grade levels, including 7th grade at ANCS, meeting similar tiered growth standards.
This recognition is a testament to ANCS’s commitment to fostering a rigorous and supportive learning environment, where all students are encouraged to excel. We are proud of our students and educators for their dedication to achieving excellence and look forward to continued success in the years ahead.
Congratulations to our community for this exceptional achievement!
