December MAP Testing

Dear ANCS families,

We will administer the MAP Growth assessments from December 9th-20th to all K-8 students.  MAP takes place over two testing sessions, one for ELA and one for math. In addition, our kindergarten and 1st graders will take the MAP Reading Fluency assessment. MAP Reading Fluency is designed to identify students who may be at risk for a reading disability.

ANCS has been using MAP for over 10 years as a standardized measure of academic achievement.  MAP is a computer-adaptive assessment given 3 times a year to determine a student’s academic growth.  If a student answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. This type of assessment challenges top performers without overwhelming students whose skills may still be developing. It also measures growth over time, allowing us to monitor your child’s progress throughout the school year and across multiple years.   ANCS uses the school-wide data from MAP to analyze how we are performing overall as well as to target individual learning. This is not a test that your child can pass or fail, but please encourage them to try their best! If you would like to know the exact dates your child is testing, please reach out to their teacher.
