Letter from EC Librarian

Hello, ANCS Families! My name is Katie Baughman and I am the librarian at the Elementary Campus. This is my first year at ANCS, but my 17th year teaching. I earned my undergraduate degree in Middle Grades Education from LaGrange College and my masters in Media and Instructional Technology from the University of West Georgia. Over my career I’ve been both a classroom teacher and a media specialist. In my role as EC librarian, I feel like I get the best of both worlds. I enjoy teaching Related Arts classes where we spend our time together doing read-alouds, STEM activities, and honing literacy skills. I also love maintaining and growing our library resources, collaborating with teachers, and, best of all, recommending books to students. This truly is my dream job, and I am overjoyed to come to work each day.

My family has lived in Old Fourth Ward for the past 8 years and I enjoy the 3 mile bike ride to and from school each day. I live with my husband, Nate, and my daughter, Korra, and our 2 cats. As a family we enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants, playing board games, and of course, reading! I especially enjoy listening to an audiobook while baking, crocheting, or cross-stitching.

I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone at ANSC! Please feel free to reach out via email (kbaughman@atlncs.org) if you have any questions.
