Trees Atlanta Planting

A huge THANK YOU to all the school families that came out to plant trees at the Elementary Campus with Trees Atlanta last Saturday. The music was energizing, the company was enthusiastic and friendly, and the weather was perfect for adding beauty and shade to our learning and playing spaces throughout campus. Over forty students, parents, and community members (including a few folks that volunteer regularly with Trees Atlanta) shared their time, talents, and muscles to plant close to forty trees. Several different species were added to our local canopy, such as white oak, tulip poplar, crepe myrtle, American linden, and serviceberry. While offering shade and air purification, trees like linden and serviceberry provide a much-needed food source to many of our vital pollinator species. All in all, it is a win-win for our whole school ecosystem, and we couldn’t have done it without our incredible volunteers!
