Middle Grades Teacher (Grades 6-8)

Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School’s (ANCS) Middle Campus is an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP). World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that ANCS believes is important for our middle grades students. Our students take classes in eight academic subject areas that focus on conceptual understanding and essential skills. These eight subject areas are: Arts, Design, Health and Physical Education, Individuals and Societies, Language and Literature, Spanish Language Acquisition, Mathematics, and Sciences. Below is some additional detail on some these IB class names:

  • The Design course is a class that challenges students to use their creative thinking skills to solve problems using the design cycle. Teachers with various backgrounds can teach this course. For example, in the past we’ve hired teachers with backgrounds in Science, Math, Social Studies, Language and Literature, and Visual Art, and they have all put their own individual stamps on the course. For more information about the Design role click here.
  • For Arts we currently offer Visual Arts and Performing Arts, but if we have an opening and you have other expertise to offer we can consider that.
  • Our Health and Physical Education teachers incorporate both of these disciplines into one course.
  • Language and Literature is equivalent to English Language Arts at a traditional school.
  • Individuals and Societies is equivalent to Social Studies at a traditional school.
